Default Capabilities for the VM Home and VM Swap Namespace Objects in VSAN 6.0

If you ever wondered after looking at the VM object placement that as per the policy that is applied by you on VM is using FTT=1 and Number of disk stripes per object is = 2 but VM Home Namespace objects are not distributed as per the striping only FTT policy is working then no need to wonder guys as this is obvious behavior in VSAN as VSAN does not carry the same policy setting that you applied on the VM for all the objects of the VM then what is policy that is applied on the VM Home Namespace object and VM Swap Namespace object. Check the information given below:-

VM Home Namespace Capabilities
  1. Number of Disk Objects to Stripe: policy overwritten with value of 1

  3. Read Cache Reservation: policy overwritten with value of 0%
  4. Number of Failures to Tolerate: Storage Policy Setting is used (Policy that is applied on the VM)
  5. Force Provisioning: Storage Policy Setting is used (Policy that is applied on the VM)
